Guide to Web Alerts
How to post an alert when fields are canceled or similar.
Steps for posting field cancellations:
- Login to BedfordSoccer.org.
- Choose "Site Admin" off the top right menu item
- Choose "News Items" from the center of the page
- Choose the "Fields Closed" item, probably near the top of the
page. The title may change but you should recognize it. (Typically there is one item for field closures and one for intramural announcements.)
- Click the "edit" tab just above the title of the item
- Update the title and description as necessary
- Click "save" button at the bottom of the page
- Click the "properties" tab just above the title of the item
- Make sure that under "Keywords" the "alert" value is selected
- Make sure the "Effective Date" is less than today's date
- Make sure the "Expiration Date" is more than today's date
- Click save
Confirming you have updated the field cancellation message:
- Log out or use a second browser like Firefox! You will only see what regular users see when you are logged out. The log out link is in the top right corner of the page.
- Go to the home page
Troubleshooting:
- If the notice shows up in the right column under news and alerts but does not show up as a bright orange box at the top center of the page, most likely the "alert" value is not set under the "keywords" property. See above.
- If the notice does not show up anywhere:
- The effective or expiration dates are wrong
- The notice is not published. At the top right of the news item is a "state". Set this to "publish."
